Welcome to the Weekender 2011 Classic Motor Event
Event Dates: Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June 2011

The 2011 Albany Classic Motor Event was another great celebration of historic motorsport from wire wheels right through to big cube Aussie muscle cars. And no rain! Nearly 500 concrete blocks and 2400 metres of Armco barrier were again bolted together in the dark to create an absolutely unique event and right in the heart of Albany.
Albany first experienced motor racing in 1936 with the 'WA 50 Mile T.T. Car Race'. This was the first round the houses style race in Australia and was run over a 4 mile circuit through the town. The modern layout follows part of the revised 1938 Grand Prix circuit and is 1.5 km in length overlooking the picturesque Princess Royal Harbour.
The current Albany Classic is one of only two round-the-houses style events still going today. The modern event is as much a festival as serious motorsport but now caters for the whole family and a diverse range of motoring interest. Crowds still line the streets to witness the enthralling sights of vintage and classic cars taking part in the annual motor event. This year, cars covering more than 80 years of motoring development were either competing or on display.
The Albany Classic has withstood the test of time and is the premier round the houses historic regularity event in Australia.

Above-track set-up full steam ahead, 4:30 am 6 June 2010. THANK YOU to all the night set-up crew - Great job again in 2011!
See the galleries pages for a collection of car and festival photos from the day.
Coming soon will be pictures from the Mount Clarence Hill Climb.
Please also take time to acknowledge all of the event sponsors and support them whenever you can. 'Buy Local' means we'll all be able to enjoy this event in the years to come.

We would like to recognise and thank the following local businesses, organisations and people responsible for the setup/breakdown and operation of the Albany Weekender 2010 Classic ‘round-the-houses’ track on Sunday 6 June.
They donate their machines and equipment and volunteer their labour to construct the track which includes moving over 450 concrete blocks and safety barriers in and out of the Albany CBD in a day. The event simply would not happen without their assistance and we ask that you consider supporting these businesses during the year.
